Maarrr-ble... what an a**

Dear polishers,

After surfing for some times, I really get curious with the marbling technique.
I watch lots of nail artist done it and I really wish to do marbling manicure. Not to mention when I see colors like this!

While I realize that it's almost christmas and I'm thinking on having a Christmas theme manicure while wishing that my China Glaze party hearty will arrive soon! I decided to do some marbling technique which remind me or that stick mint red white lollipop cane. After decided to have a lollipop manicure (via marbling), I start to dig on the internet and search some info and even videos tutorial of how to make a marbling effect!

Info:

Video:

seems the technique is very easy to apply, right?!

WRONG!!!!

I cried on my first battle with it! On my first attempt, I just managed to do one finger.

Then after that... either the polish drop sink to the bottom of the bowl or when I tried to make pattern, they become glued into one thick gooey mess.

I give up! I felt I'm just throwing my mini OPI Alice in Wonderland Thanks so Muchness for nothing! Turns out, I'm not the one who feels about the frustration. You should read how miss A.L.U complains about this stupid marbling effect! RIGHT HERE!

That's it... the end of my dream of doing marble technique alone. Next time, I'll just drive by to the nearest saloon and told the manicurist to do some in my nails. *That's what saloon are for, right*

Until then, Happy Polishing!

Beauty Center... I hear VIOLET!

Dear Polishers,

It was two months ago when I saw a cosmetic shop in Emporium Pluit that stuck in my head. It's a cosmetic shop from Korea and usually, korean cosmetic has the best nail polish color! So I was going there and looking for something and stunt by at the nail polish section.

There they are, with beautiful bottle and reasonable cheap price. (the color is not much to brag since it's almost the same like you could find in faceshop)

But at that time... I don't feel I'm much of in-need of nailpolish so i just walk pass by and for two months!!! I kept thinking of that one store. I was looking in other stores in jakarta and I couldn't find that brand and yesterday, I had the chance to go to Empo once again and first place i go was that cosmetic shop! AND NOT FORGET TO GET SOME PICTURE!

So... basically. This shop offers the cheapest nailpolish price, and with the beautiful bottle (korean brand always known for their cute package!) and the color... yeah... it's kinda simple but hey... at least the color was quite colorfull!

I'm picking up for one color and I choose violet. It was frosty pearl violet and you could find similar color in VOV cosmetic.

And this is how it looks on my nails!

The picture was a bit blue, but the bottle is kinda a bit purple, but it doesn't matter, because it's kinda duo-chrome color. The color is not that special but i love how it gives some effect to your nails. For the formula, It's applicable, easy to remove, smell as bad as faceshop but still tolerated.

the Result is EXTREMELY SATISFYING! (although I didn't check much longer if this thing makes your nails goes yellow! but at least it's cheaper than faceshop!)

Unfortunately, you could only find this in Jakarta Emporium Pluit or in Batam (and why the heck it has to be in BATAM?!)

So... grab one of these polish! Guess it wins my worth-to-buy award!

Until then, Happy Polishing!

It's Skins Blue Shimmer vs Faceshop Blue Shimmer

Dear Polishers,

I remember to give you swatches of two similar dark navy blue shimmer by It's skins and faceshop. Although they're not identical, I still want to compare them due to similar color.

So here it is... It's skin blue shimmer

and faceshop blue shimmer...

The only difference of this polish is that the faceshop had this pink glitter, hide behind those blue shimmer while the it's skin doesn't serve anything beside blue, blue, and blue.

I love the color so much... Maybe It's the only faceshop polish I don't regret buying it. I even put it in my toe nails for 3 weeks and what did i got.... YELLOW almost ORANGE nails! Can you imagine?!

But despite all of it, I still love you blue baby faceshop!

Until then, Happy Polishing!

BREAKING NEWS! WHAT IS 3FREE ANYWAY?!

Dear Polishers,

Morning guys, I just read my twitter when my friend, Anin, wrote in her twitter

"U need to tell us what's 3free ;)"

(Before I continue, I was having a nostalgic moment about how Anin and I met through my high school friend. I was looking for a designer and there she is... jumping almost become my saviour of the day if my boss didn't ruin her chance. We've meet once and suddenly... INSTANT CONNECTION! I talk longer than I used to talk to my high school friend)

So, back to business, i was like... I'm kinda a douche talking about 3free but didn't tell you guys what's a 3free. Well so i decided to talk about 3 free polish!

Mostly, my guidance is from miss ALU, You can read it from her blog, for complete information but I'll just copy paste it from her blog... although with some edit here and there.

Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) is a plasticiser to prevent chips and cracks. It's oily liquid you find in some polish. Not evaporate easily into the atmosphere.

Over 75% of DBP is used as a plasticiser in polymers such as PVC, 14% is used in adhesives, 7% in printing inks and 3% in other miscellaneous uses, including cosmetics.

Formaldehyde does not exist in nail polish. It is used in some nail hardeners but not in the actual polish. A resin, tosylamide/formaldehyde resin, makes the polish tough and resilient.

According to miss All Lacquered Up, it isn’t actually an issue unless you have a reaction to the formaldehyde resin. The bottom line, you should be aware of formaldehyde in your treatment products, not polish.

Toluene (methylbenzene, toluol, phenylmethane) is a solvent that makes the polish easy to apply. It is an aromatic hydrocarbon commonly used as an industrial solvent for the manufacturing of paints, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and rubber.

Toluene is found in gasoline, acrylic paints, varnishes, lacquers, paint thinners, adhesives, glues, rubber cement, airplane glue, and shoe polish. At room temperature, toluene is a colorless, sweet smelling, volatile liquid.

So i guess if your polish smells, it might be the effect of this chemical.

Why are they bad?

according to miss ALU:

I’m not convinced that they are bad. I really think this is something each person should decide for themselves. There are risks and effects caused by exposure to each of these chemicals. But, whether or not limited exposure to polish will actually result in those effects is yet to be determined. I don’t feel it is my place to make that call so I choose to present you with the info I’ve found so you can make up your own mind

According to me:

I think it does give some effect on your nails. I remember using those cheap nail polish for more than a week and i realize my nails become yellow. But when I use the 3free brand, i didn't find yellow nails.

IN INDONESIA:

It's rare to find 3free polish. There was this brand called "wild and crazy" once sold in C&F Perfume shop for only 39.000idr back in 2007, but now... you could only find it on special occasion and promo. Last time I bought it for 35.000 idr, but then I buy it for buy 1 get 1 promo. (But too bad there's only a very limit option!) So right now, if you want to find a 3free polish, OPI is the only option (with high price!) But... some sacrifice has to be made. Or... you could find alternative by buying from the internet online shop. You can buy OPI a lot of cheaper than the price in t store.

So... what do you think. Still want to use the usual nail polish or moved to the 3free or even 4free(I'll tell u later about the 4free polish)?!

Until then, Happy Polishing!

NAILheartINK

Rugos! Gone But Not Forgotten!

Dear Polishers,

I was cleaning up my stuff back in school when I found some leftovers Nail Rugos stickers.

For you who don't know what's a nail rugos sticker is... they basically are the same like nail sticker but (in my case) more thinner than the newer version. They're very fragile and easily broken. To use it, you have to scratch it on the surface you want it to stick. It was popular back then when I was in general school and we use to wear it in our nails.

So... I'm a bit excited to find one that has tiny flower picture in it and put it on my polished nails right away.

Isn't this adorable....

I called this manicure Spring Garden and used VOV Ice Cream Mint Turqoise

I just wish I could still found them nowadays... *so much for memories!*

Until then, Happy Polishing!

China Glaze Bermuda Breakaway Madness

Dear Polishers,

I haven't tell you but there's time when I and Dika are in madness on finding the perfect navy/royal blue or whatever you call them. Sometimes it's just to dark, or to light, to yellow or to grey, it's just... you never find the perfect blue you want. Until one day I read about China Glaze Bermuda Breakaway... a getaway for the unending madness.

So... I order one from the e-tailer after reading that she gave special price for ordering China Glaze polish. Then after made the deal, I feel satisfy and sit back, relax, dreaming when the polished arrive and landed on my nails........ until a few minutes later I realize I don't have the budget for it. I've just bought lots of polish and since I'm unemployed, I can't afford on buying nail polish that I don't need! I start to freak out and wish that I can still cancel it. Who am I kidding... of course I can't cancel it. So I end up leaving in a disappointment of buying something I don't need.

I tried to seek redemption by looking at the net... searching for a comfort about this color and lots of the blogger told that this is a great blue. I'm consoled for a while.

Till the day it comes....

I love the blue. It's great! It changes according to light.

So you'll get the perfect blue under the perfect light, ...

Or, you'll get darker blue on ordinary day....

I love it, I really do, it's just... I'll remember the blue as the blue that I don't need. Even many manicure I tried couldn't help the feeling.... T.T

Boy. I wish I would never do that again. Buy something because of "so-called-promo" temptation. I've learned my lesson in a hard way. Hopefully, I'll learn to love the blue like I used to.

Until then, Happy Polishing!

The Amazingness of Korean Nail polish!!

Dear Polishers,

I really amazed the fact that KOREAN NAIL POLISH is very very fascinating! I adore it too much. It has beautiful colors choice, easy to remove and even the glitter one, and very glossy appearance. Oh i just love it so much till it made me do another manicure with glitter!!!

First, I remember that this TONY MOLY Moss has an amazing solid color! I just love the way it looks like JADE green from OPI Hongkong Collection... For brighter performance, I put some gold layer in it and now they look pretty amazing!

And second one, I put a plum Tony Moly purple and somehow, even I know that gold tend to look good with purple, I adore the JADE GOLD, rather than the PLUM GOLD...

So... the point of my blog lately... If your friends went to Korea, Ask for Korean NAIL POLISH!!! Or, you're gonna regret it so much!!!!!!!

Until then, Happy Polishing!

GOODIE BAG FROM KOREA!!!!!

Dear Polishers,

Yesterday, I was meeting with my best college friends and one of them just came back from her recent trip from Korea. She was staying for studying lingerie design and her trip was paid by her company. Since she was there for a month, I didn't forget to tell her to buy some great polish she could find.

So, when she met me yesterday, I was shocked with the amount of polish she brought me. (13 dark edgy polish she could find really drools me out!)

I was like a kid in a toyshop! It was heaven for me and I decide to gives you kind peek of my new polish collection!!

Here's the FANTASTIC HEART etude polish she bought me! (I put it with her other etude friends so she won't feel lonely) Too bad I won't put a review for this nail polish because I'm kinda disappointed with result of this polish. (Maybe I'll give it a comparison between Faceshop's and Etude's)

Second are the polish from it's skins (Blue shimmer) innisfree (Plum shimmer) and Holikaholika (Tuscany purple). From the 13th bottle it's skins has the oddest bottle and not an intersting one, while innisfree has an embossed upper cap (just like usual west polish bottle) while HolikaHolika is a common bottle but they're trying to make it look sweet by shaping the upper top cap with haxagonal shape and their witches logo

Mostly, I ordered TONYMOLY polishes (according to my friend, TONY MOLY was the hippest brand in Korea right now)

And last two is from the "BAVIPHAT" collection. Which has the best bottle design from all this 5 brands! The bottle is similar to nfu-oh and has words written in the cap (EVERY GIRLS, BE IT GIRLS) Aren't they GORGEOUS!!

Before I start, there will be 2 polish that I won't review. Cause I'll make a comparison and one was a plain ordinary black.

Here we go with IT'S SKIN blue glitters.
It's a usual blue with green shade sometimes. Nothing interesting, beside the fact it's very applicable! I repeat... very very applicable! No gooey mess or lumpy disaster! Maybe I'll do comparison aganst Faceshop blue shimmer.

Next, is INNISFREE plum purple

Another satisfying formula! Applicable and the color are gorgeous. It's a bit sheer at first but on the second coat, You'll go like "bloody hell" it sucks my skin color! Reminds me of VampyVarnish color... VAMPIRE COLOR RULES!

And then, there's HOLIKAHOLIKA Tuscany purple

If you know me very well, you'll realize that I hate nude color. I always considered that grey, brown, dusky, khaki, taupe, was not even a color and they're supposed to be banished on the world of pantone... even when i apply this color, I immidietly wipe it out from my nails because i hate it so much until a few minutes... after that I have this weird urgentness to apply the color back! and then a few second later, I wipe it out again and the feeling of wanting to apply it back come back! Is it possible?? the karma of this color hit me in this HOLIKAHOLIKA bottle?!?!

Move on. In the next 6 bottles, I'm gonna discuss TONYMOLY collections. Now I'm holding pink glittery

Usual baby pink glitter. When i first saw this color, it reminds me of those kid polish for girl... very baby pink with all the shimmer. Usual polish although I'm sure my mom's gonna love this one like the "WILD n CRAZY" starlight nail polish she obsessed with. (She used almost 1/3 of the bottle in just a month!!!

TONYMOLY nude pink

Nude pink... the best pink I've ever choose and I don't know why. I tend to buy pink polish but after buying it, there's this guilt feeling like "WHY I CHOOSE THIS KIND OF PINK" but with this color. It's not happening and I'm quite happy with the result.

TONYMOLY party lover gold glitter

On of the party lover series.... I love to call this gold color GOLD DIGGER. Looks good when you make it as top coat after applying INISFREE PLUM PURPLE! Check out my sis fingers (which i make an experiment in hers)

TONY MOLY plum purple

Another plum purple, supposedly the real color wasn't this electric (blame the light for making it look 80's)

TONY MOLY moss green

Then there's this green moss color which was the first thing I order from my friend. I was instantly fall in love with the weird green and I was squeals so bad after meeting the moss!! Oh... at last I have a dark green polish!! YAHOO-HOO

The last from TONYMOLY party lover and most surprising is this silvery glitter polish!

I'm speechless when I appky this color for the 1st time. It was beyond my expectation and I love it!!! so bad!!!! It reminds me of the milenium time... when we all love grey!!! OH GOD!!! this silver is beyond amazing!!! I JUST LOVE IT!!! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! There I said it three times!

Then we jump to the last brand, BAVIPHAT black glitter.
Very sheer color, Need 3 coats to make it looks like this. Not impressed that much. Kind of gooey and has multi size glitters. I can't say much and this kind of dissapointing since I was hoping the black would be like black hole opacity!

Best nail polish i had from KOREA! is this RED GLITTER polish
I was surprised when I see the silvery TONYMOLY but i jumped out of my chair when I apply this red (I'd rather call this BLOODY MARY somehow) First i was skeptical that this red is going to be another red. But when I apply this in my nails I was like!! God!!! This looks like blood in my nail. Will EDWARD CULLEN suck this?!
The jellish side of this color is amazing! It's like fresh blood sprinkled with disco ball!
Everytime i see this color, my brain start to say: TWILIGHT, TRUE BLOOD, VAMPIRE DIARIES, and all the vampire movies I've watched! The best experience I've ever had on applying polish.

So, overall... I'll give two thumbs on korean nail polish product! In fact, Because it satisfy me a lot, I'm gonna give you guys some point why you have to buy KOREAN polishes.

1. extremely applicable!!! (although most of the color are sheer jelly, so basically it needs 2-3 coats for perfect finishing), but a little note that another korean product that's sold in Indonesia (FACESHOP, SKINFOOD, ETUDE) doesn't have this "extremly applicable" advantage! I don't understand why and it makes me wonder. Are the korean selling 2nd grade product to us?!

2. The smell is accaptable (but again, doesn't apply to Korean product that is sold in Indonesia)

3. Crazy cutes bottle and various pastel color (it's difficult to find dark polish in Korean accroding to my friend, but you won't find any difficulties for finding pastel color)

4. OVERLY CHEAP price. You could buy polish just for 2 USD or 20.000 IDR! amazing, right?!

5. (Still a rumour and I'm not that sure) They're claiming to use natural ingredient... at least, it less poisoning that the 3 toxicated polish, right?!

Until then, Happy Polishing!

XOXO,
NAILheartINK
